I've been using this mount in conjunction with my GPSMAP 76CS on my mountain bike with no problems. Installation to the handlebar is simple with just one screw to hold the mount in place.
br /
br /To mount the GPS unit, simply slide it into the holster and flip a switch on the back to lock it into place.
br /
br /I've been using this unit on mountain bike trails and everything stays secure and easy to read.

br /Highly recommended.

The locking mechanism gave way

I used this product with my garmin 76CSX GPS to travel across the US on my bicycle (4000 mi). The locking mechanism gave way quite a few times and eventually descending the GPS flew out and got scratched up. I contacted garmin via their E-mail support only to be forwarded to the dreaded 30 minute wait on phone support. Not recommended without additional security feature to hold it in place. $15 product cost me to ruin $300+ product.

The Garmin Handlebar Mount just fit on my new Trek hybrid. Two pins cleverly lock the GPS (mine is the 76CSx) to the holder. Not as substantial is the plastic locking device that holds the holder to the handlebar mount, although I havn't had any trouble with it. The sealed blister pack that the Mount came in said "instructions included" but there were none. It was not hard to figure it out but it would have been reassuring that I did it right.

Works great and is secure

I have a Garmin GPSMap 76

br /The way this handlebar mount works is actually simple but at the same time ingenious and will keep your GPS securely on the handlebars. There are a set of pins that slide inside the back on you GPS preventing it from moving up or down, since the GPS slides inside the harp plastic mount once the pins are in place, it seems unlikely that the mechanism would fail.
br /
br /Just be carefull when tightening the ring that holds the mount on the handlebars. It seems as if you tighten to much, the ring may break.
br /
br /I had the handlebar mount all last summer and didn't have a problem. I usually ride on dirt roads/single trails and on the street.
br /
br /Please take a look a the picture I uploaded to help you get a sense of where on the handlebars the GPS can be mounted.

Works on boats too

This mount survived a week on the ICW including a 35 knot thrash up the Chesapeake Bay. It attached easily to the round hand rail above the binnacle at the helm, within easy view. It has 2 pieces, a handle bar bracket and a GPS unit bracket that snap together. The handle bar bracket has a rubber insert, so once it was installed, it was secure, and never moved or rotated. The GPS bracket has locking pins so that the GPS unit cannot accidently slide out of the bracket. The attachment of the GPS bracket to the handle bar bracket is positive and gives a loud click so that you know it is secure. It is well designed, and was sturdier than I expected.

Works on Motorcycle.

I bought this for my 2005 Suzuki Boulevard c50 motorcycle. Fits right in between the original risers, center on the handlebar. It rides a little close to the gas tank however that should get better after I install new risers. The plastic is a little flimsy(maybe flexible is a better word) but not enough to worry. The GPS placement is well balanced on this mount. I still loop the GPS through the lanyard around the handlebar before I mount it, just in case.

Great Product and price

I mounted this to my VTX1300, vibrations and bumps, and have been riding it all over. The mount has held strong and the GPS is working just fine in it.

I have yet to try it on my bike but it works great to secure it to the control frame on my hang glider. I have a 76CSX and this mount keeps it secure and allows one hand operation of the unit. Since the 76csx has a altitude sensor, I can record 3D track logs and find my way back out of the clouds... oops. Garmin also supports glide to destination data with their sensored units so with this mount and the unit I get all the functionality I need.

This product is stable and vibration resistant. I had to install 1" risers on my motorcycle to get enough room to install it, but that is a limitation of the motorcycle, not the mount. Once installed, I rode 360 miles, 120 of it on gravel roads, and it performed perfectly. I am very happy with the delivery, price, and function of this mount. I am planning to buy others so that I can move it from motorcycle to motorcycle. Note that I would NOT use this on an off-road dirtbike - carry the GPS on your person in this application, handlebar mounts of ANY kind are not for dirt bike shock and vibration - but on a street bike or dual purpose, excellent product.

This mount is really only rated for bicycles but I've been using mine on a motorcycle for a long time. Many thousand miles including some off-road and the mount is holding solid. I always secure it with the lanyard but I think it will go on forever!

Great mount. Works well. Make sure you have the locking lever locked so the pins hold the unit in the mount.

I am quite pleased with this product. The price was very low, so I was afraid it may be a generic knock off. It turned out to be a genuine Garmin product, and fits my GPS perfectly. The shipping was fast too!

The bike mount is solid although.. whomever designed it... did not design it for a current bicycle. The bike mount is made for a handle bar with a 1" or 1.25" diameter handle bar. Something no one mentions in the specs. I'm not sure who makes a handle bar this diameter... but it's probably a late 60's bike design. I wound up pressing the spring pin out and only using half of the parts with zip ties to hold it onto my bike. It's a solid bike mount... if you have mechanical aptitude to make it fit your bike. For a modern design... it's not that modern. I don't think Garmin actually looked at a bicycle when they designed this. With the zip ties and mods... it seems stable and has made it through 60 road miles without issue. If you look beyond the handle bar issue... there is a shear pin / cam interface that is very solid that holds the GPS to the mount. I would think twice about mounting this on a mountain bike or anything that would see a minor bump in the road. Anything with even moderate vibration will rip this thing apart.... even after it has been re-worked to fit. Overall, 1 out of 10.. 10 being the best.. .I give this a 2. Since there is nothing else out there for mounting the 76 to a bike... your kind of stuck...If you absolutely need to mount the 76 to a bike... you can at least use 1/2 of this to get started.
