I purchased the Golflogix GPS instead of the more popular SkyCaddie because the Golflogix is made by Garmin. Obviously, Garmin knows GPS. The unit is actually a re-packaged Garmin eTrex. It is very solid and sturdy. When I bought it I found that three of the courses that I play were not mapped. I requested them and in one week they were available. Fantastic. I have also submitted questions via email and have been answered promptly. The unit is small and easy to use. It will increment holes automatically when I walk to the next hole. Most of the time I do not need to press any buttons. I would definitely recommend Golflogix.

I have used this item for several rounds of golf. It is very easy to use. Seems much easier to work than the Skycaddie. They both will give you the same information but this one is easier to read and operate. The customer service at Golflogix is tops also.

I got the device last week and played two rounds of golf using it. By and large I am satisfied with the performance. The unit worked as advertised.

Here are some things to be aware of:

1. I was using the cart and there were several times when on reaching the ball I saw a 15 yard difference between what the unit was indicating and what the marking on the course was. I realized that you need to give the unit about 20 seconds after stoppint the cart to give the exact distance. If you walk to the ball, there is no issue..it will provide correct distance always.

2. The unit has two screens per hole. One showing distance to the green and the other showing hazard distances. The second screen does not indicate what hole it is showing distances for..would be a nice and simple enhancement.

3. Battery life is good..I played 2 rounds and the battery indicator barely moved.

4. looks and feels rugged and the belt clip is handy

5. I had an initial question about accessories. I emailed golflogix and got a response within a day.

6. Downloading courses to the device was quick and easy

I bought because of Garmin brand. I have a mobile garmin gps for my car, which i love.

I purchased the Golflogix instead of the Sky Caddie because of the Garmin brand. Also the yearly fees are more reasonably than Sky caddie and there are many more listed courses. Their customer service for adding and correcting courses that I have played has been excellent. I do wish that more hazards were listed on some courses. I played 5 rounds on the same batteries. Attaches to my Sky mountain pull cart. Downloading courses is a snap. Definetly recommend.

I bought this Golflogix GPS to replace my Skycaddie brand. I thiough that it being made by Garmin would provide great accuracy and durability. The latter of which is the issue that I had with the Sky Caddie.

I received the unit in June. It died in 3 days during the second round. They sent another unit and I had to repurchase the membership fee to register but was refunded after a couple of calls.

I took the unit to one course where it tracked the 1st green throughout the round, whereever I was on the course.

Another course displayed the 1st green as 864 yards away from the tee box! The rest of the holes it was "out of range". A real embarrassment as my other partners had the Skycaddies working fine.

Yet another course displayed yardages that were so inaacurate, they were laughable. This unit is not ready for primtime.

Many call to customer service and tech support were worthless. No callback, unimformed tech personell and just general BS. The promised to refund my money and then would simply not respond to my request.

Mac software that was promised in August is still not available. I'm very dissappointed!!!

Never guess about yardage again

I bought the GolfLogix GPS from Amazon because of the Garmin name and the price. After my purchase, Amazon dropped the price by $4. I sent them an email and they refunded the difference. How many merchants will do that? Many of my golf partners have the SkyCaddie SG-2 and I think that the GolfLogix is a superior product. It uses common AA batteries, although it consumes them quickly, as noted in other reviews. That's not a big problem. I use Energizer rechargeables, and keep an extra set in the bag ready to go. Unlike the SkyCaddie, if the battery goes dead in the middle of a round, you can easily pop in a new set and be back in business by the next hole. All of the courses in my community are covered by GolfLogix, except executive links. On the first day of use, a passing rain shower had the SkyCaddie folks scrambling to cover their units. I had no worries with the GolfLogix as it is water resistant. During initial use, I checked the accuracy with every known marker on the course (200, 150 & 100 yards) and the GolfLogix was with 2 yards every time. Perhaps the most amazing part of the information is the distance to hazards. One dogleg on my home course is protected by trees on the right. GolfLogix gave the distance to the trees. Once you set it for the first hole, you don't have to touch it again. The screen is very clear and easy to read. I am far sighted and prefer to wear sun glasses instead of reading glasses on the golf course, but I have no problem reading this gps. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of battery life. I would have made it four and a half, if I could. It is truly an amazing product that every serious golfer should have.

I bought my Garmin GPS last year. It has been a wonderful help in all the traveling I do. Last week I bought a Golflogix on Amazon and used it on Thursday. I played in a foursome with a man who had a sky caddi. we went toe to toe on the front nine comparing yardages. There was never more than 3 yards + or - differance. Then his battery went dead with no way to recharge. Advantage GolfLogix. Also unlimited downloads for $29.00 in the United States is great. Again advantage Golflogix. Finally, the price. The cheapest I found a new Sky Caddie was $259.00 plus handling. It looked like the cheaper version(less features I guess). I payed $180.00 including handling. The drawbacks are no shoing of the shape of the green, however the coures I play I am either familiar withe the green shape or the score card shows the shape. It also does not have last shot rememberance, but I understand that a new model is coming out that will have that feature and other features such a holding up to 20 courses. Also software up dates will be available to those who have the older models. I am extremely pleased with my purchase.

The Golflogix GPS by garmin does just what they say it does. Gives you yardage to 3 hazards per hole, or 3 combinations of distances. Yardage to dogleg, layup distance, to bunker and every hole gives you distance to the front, back and center of every green. And changes from hole to hole without pushing a button. The only time you have to scroll is when you haven't made it past the hazard, dogleg, etc. I played 4 days, 27 holes a day, on the first set of batteries. The cable is a little difficult to connect and the unit is built solid and has easy to read large numbers.

I recieved my GolfLogix GPS a week ago and took it to our local course to give it a try. My friends had a "SkyCaddie" and I wanted a Garmin product as I also have a Garmin Street Pilot 330c GPS. I was extremely disappointed in the Golflogix as it was really giving strange readings that were way off. I finally shut it off and went ahead and finished my golf game. I went home aroung 5:30pm and e-mailed GolfLogix and told them what had happened. To make a long story short I recieved an e-mail within 2 hours as to what had happened. They explained that some changes on the golf course had been made since they had mapped it. Well in that span of 2 hours they had remapped it and published it. I re-loaded the update and tried it out last night. It worked great, very accurate, couldn't ask for anything to work better than it did. I have e-mailed GolfLogig 3 other times and their response was always answered well and fast. WAY TO GO GolfLogix, very refreshing for that kind of service in this day and age.

I have been evaluating all of the golf GPS systems available. I purchased this item precisely because it was made by Garmin. It is easy to use, gives me accurate yardage to every point on the course that I need, distance to hazards, lay up distances, and accurate front, center, and back of green. Really helps when I play a new course or one I haven't played often. I use it on my home course as well, and it's a tremendous help in club selection. Highly recommended, and a bargain.

I just got this unit and today for the first time I used it and was very happy with it. This unit is so darn easy to use, pretty much just turn it on and play golf. I like the way it advances to the next hole without having to do anything to the unit. Yardages to the greens and other reference points seemed to be right on. I loaded my home course o this unit and like the way that is always telling you the yardages. I had a lazer rangfinder before and it was hard to pick a target and I am not good enough to need to know if it is 127 yards 120 to the middle or 135 to the back is fine for me. I was supprized on how much I like this thing.

I purchased this product after admiring one owned by a fellow golfer. I paid about 40% less than her by buying last year's model. This has all the same features. It is great to have the yardages to the hazards and to the greens, without having to hunt for markers or sprinkler heads on the golf course. It makes club selection much easier. I wouldn't go golfing without it.
br /
br /The gadget holds information for ten courses at a time, which you download from your computer. The only downside is that when you go somewhere new, you have to remember to load the course from your computer. This has to be done from a computer which has the software on it. So plan ahead.
br /
br /All in all, a great addition to my golf bag.

My wife bought me this as a present, because we have had such good luck with our Garmin Nuvi GPS unit. This is absolutely what you want in a golf gps unit. I kept amazing my playing partners by showing them that the readings on the golflogix matched the marked sprinkler heads exactly (and also gave readings to the front and back of the greens). The most important design feature is that you don't have to push any buttons. You just look at the screen, and it tells you what you need to know. Basically, it gives you 3 distances from the tee, such as the front and rear of bunkers, water, etc. As you move forward, it automatically gives you the distance to the green. If you wish, you do have the ability to scroll forward and see the distance to the green from the tee. Granted, there are other units that offer more information, if you are willing to spend the time aiming the crosshairs, etc. But, if like me, you just want to know your distance (without delay), golflogix is an excellent choice.

I've only been able to use it twice, but so far I'm very pleased.
Every course I've looked for is available, and it's great that I can store so many at one time. The software is easy to use and the downloads/uploads are very fast. It Seems to pick up the satellite in seconds and so far it has never lost a signal. Seems like it's constructed well. So far the only thing I don't like is that if you're less than 30 yards from the green, it says "

My Golflogix unit arrived yesterday. I downloaded the software, registered the product, and then downloaded three local golf courses. Today I went golfing to try it out. I like it. Its easy to use and very easy to see. After a few holes other players in my foursome were asking me for readings on distance to the green.

I do have one complaint. My unit was mounted on my golf handcart. When I reached the 17th tee I realized my unit was gone. The tiny screw that attaches the unit to the belt clip is very flimsy and does not hold the unit securely. Golflogix should fix this problem. I did manage to find it.

During my initial round at my home course, the yardages were off some. I called GolfLogix, they re-mapped the course and sent me an e-mail telling me the re-mapped course was available. I downloaded the new mapping and every distance I've checked thus far is dead-on. This is going to be fun.

The unit itself has a very sturdy feel and is easy to use. Their customer service was excellent.

This GPS device works better than all others on the market (I've seen them all). The information is very accurate so I don't have to worry about the club I intend to use for an approach shot. The device is simple to operate.
It is very portable. And I don't have to worry about recharging the batteries (I just carry spares).

Good general guide - Don't expect extreme accuracy

I've only been using the product for a month or so. My conclusions are only based on using it 7 or 8 times. My opinion might change after I've had a chance to use it more.
br /
br /First I want to say that the product works as advertised and it's a sturdy, reliable product. The 2007 Golflogix doesn't have the last shot feature. You might consider the 2008 model to get that added feature.
br /
br /One reason for my purchase was to speed play. It comes with a belt clip which I clipped to the back of the cart for quick review while selecting a club. Just like a cell phone belt clip it's easy to pop off and carry with you to your ball (if you can't drive to the ball). Obviously if you're walking you'll want to find a place to clip it to your bag. It can be slow to settle on the yardage. If you're driving a cart the GPS won't give a good number the moment you arrive at your ball. You'll need to wait a bit while it gets it's coordinates. I found that I was looking for yardage markers because I didn't want to wait for the GPS to adjust to my new location. If you're in a foursome this shouldn't be a problem because most likey you'll be waiting for someone to play. If you're in a twosome or by yourself you might get frustrated waiting for it. All in all it serves the purpose.
br /
br /
br /My only knock is that the yardage isn't precise.
br /1. In order for the GPS to give you yardage someone has to give Golflogix the GPS locations for the front/middle/back. Your yardage is going to vary depending on how well that was recorded. I played along with a friend who was using the Skycaddie 2.5. Sometimes we had the same results and sometimes they differ.
br /2. I'm not sure if it's the way the course I played was mapped, of that the GPS can't give pin-point locations within a yard, but the unit seemed to always be up to 5 yards longer than the yardage markers. I've played 6 different courses with it so far and that seems to be a consistent inaccuracy.
br /
br /I'm an 8 handicap and I was expecting to use the device to get more precise feedback on club distance. I assumed that with the device, over time, I'd get a better understanding of distance (more precision) on my irons. I have a good idea, within 10 yards, on a full shot but I was hoping to use the GPS to get a little more information.
br /
br /My recommendation is if you're a high handicapper and don't have time to go chasing down yardage markers, this is a great tool. If you're a low handicap player I honestly don't think this technology is ready for prime time. If you're in the fairway most of the time, and the course you're playing has yardage markers, you'll probably be faster just stepping it off.
br /
br /If you have money to burn, it's a neat toy.

First of all the shipping was quick! I used the free super saver shipping, and it estimated 7 days. I got it in 4! Thanks AMAZON! Previously, I have been using IGolf gps system for about year and a half and it worked ok. Had problems with gadget turning off in the middle of my round numerous times. I got tired of turning it on after every hole, so I stuffed the IGolf gps in my bag. I missed having the gps. I researched all the other types of gps gadgets on the market, and it just seemed like a no brainer to go with Garmin's GolfLogix. I LOVE MY GOLFLOGIX!!! Very simple to use. I need reading glasses to read and the numbers on this are HUGE. No more reading glasses. Easy to download courses onto computer (Unlimited downloads). I love the fact the GolfLogix automatically advances to next hole. GPS knows all distances to sand traps, hazards, water, doglegs, etc...Price on Amazon beats all other sites hands down. Its all automatic. All in all, just a great gps unit!!!!!

Have had mine for about 6 weeks. Brought it from Amazon at a great price. It has worked flawlessly. It is easy on standard AA batteries. As others have mentioned, Garmin knows GPS and this is a standard Garmin device with Golf software loaded on it. It is durable, accurate, and great to use. If there's a dogleg on the hole, it tells you how far to the dogleg. If there's a hazard, it tells you how far to the front of the hazard and how far to the other side. If there's a tree in the fairway, it tells you how far it is to the tree. It tells you the distances to the front, center, and back of each green. Displays are intuitive and scrolling is very user friendly. I am completely satisfied.

I received my GolfLogix via FREE shipping in 4 days. It works fine, as advertised, and the database of courses includes every one I have looked for. I think the '07 model is a good deal with a saving of $100 over the '08 model. The only difference is storing 10 courses instead of 20 (do you ever play more than 10 courses before going back home?) and not having the last shot distance capability. Not worth another $100 to me. I am very pleased with the purchase.

I have used this all summer. Pros; It gives front, back, and middle green distances. It is accurate most of the time. Courses get updated regularly, and it does speed up play. When accuracy is questionable yardage markers prevail, but those issues don't come up too often. I have found it to be a reliable performer. Now the question is, are you good enough to land those distances? Cons; The only real issue I have is battery replacement- about 3 rounds. Otherwise, a very good product at a very good price

I bought a GolfLogix GPS, based on positive reviews. Initially, I downloaded only my home course (for free) to test the unit. It worked quite well, although there were a few glitches, which I fixed with a reset.
br /
br /I then subscibed to the download service and downloaded a number of course in preparation for a golf outing to the US mainland. (I live in Hawaii). On the first course the unit failed miserably, giving me a yardage of 980 yards off the first tee. I could not even turn the unit off without removing one of the batteries. The same thing happened on three other courses in California. Needless to say, I was very disappointed and upset.
br /
br /When I returned to Hawaii, I contacted GolfLogix Customer Support. They analyzed the problem as having something to do with my Windows XP. They gave me a number to call to have a technician walk me through the process of installing a software update. The technician was competent and patient. After the fix, the unit has been working flawlessly on my home course. I can't wait to take it on another trip to the mainland.

When I first bought this product, it worked very well. Then I went to the site for updates and that is when things went down hill. I spend 18 holes on a regular basis searching for a damn sattelite. They sent me a new gps, I installed it and loaded the courses, still searching for a sattelite. One of the tech's had the nerve to suggest I cut it on and leave it outside all night! You gotta be kiddin' me. When it's working it is cool, but when it's bad, it's worse. I truly wish I could get my money back, because this is disappointing. I live in Jersey City, NJ and you suggest I leave it outside all night? ROFL, it aint even funny!

Using this product once I got it set up has been a joy. However I had to go through a lot of frustration in getting there. The first product I received was faulty. It kept turning off after a few seconds. HOWEVER, one call to GolfLogix's customer service was all it took and another brand new unit was shipped out to me without delay, which I received in only 2 days, and that one seems to work fine after testing it out on the course. All my local courses that I play are mapped on it, and it seems so far to give accurate distance readings. So I was impressed by how the company stood by their product and didn't hesitate to find a solution to my initial problem.
br /
br /That said, there are two things I wish for:
br /
br /1) a more readable display... it does NOT look that clear in actual use that you see in the picture. It can be difficult to get proper contrast enough to easily read the smaller print readings. In sunlight it's worse. In these days of sophisticated cell phone displays, iphones, etc., the display on this unit is rather archaic.
br /
br /2) in the screens which show distance to hazards, it doesn't include the number hole you are playing and the overall yardage, which would be nice just to confirm where you are in your round. That would be nice as many times I don't have a clue as to what hole I"m on and I am wondering... is this right?
br /
br /Both these things aside, I think this is a good product that could be made better by addressing these issues in future updates. It certainly feels durable and tough and is quick and easy to set up and begin using.

Purchased the Golflogix after having 2 other GPS's, and it is superior to the others. Easy downloads, very quick aquisition of courses, and very accurate. Two problems that are overcome by other good features. Distances to hazards[bunkers] and water near greens is non-existent, and only ten downloads of courses is allowed.

GolfLogix GPS by GARMIN (2007 Model)
br /Good for determining distance to front and back of greens; and fairway hazards. Not always accurate to center of green. Battery replacement needed after 3 rounds. However, this is a necessary component for attacking greens and playing fairways. Reasonable price for a golf GPS system.

This is not as good as your SG4 skycaddie, by a bit. In a side by side comparison, go for the Skycaddie, however, for the price, it definitely is a good buy. It lacks the intelligreen technology that is helpful with the skycaddie, and hazards do not display very well. However, for a basic distance, this GPS works very well. I found it to be very accurate on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th rounds...not so much so on the 1st round though. I do recommend this product, but would definitely go with the Skycaddie next time around.

I recently purchased this GPS unit am very pleased with it. I bought the 2007 model in order to save a few bucks, not knowing if I would like it or not. I believe that the latest model has a couple features that this one doesn't. After using mine I would now opt for the newer model even though it cost about $90.00 more. If you buy one be sure buy rechargeable batteries otherwise you will spend a fortune on regular batteries.
br / One of the courses I play regularly was not in the data base. I asked for a mapping they had it done in just a couple of days.
br /I would recommend this unit.

The Golflogix GPS by Garmin 2007 model is a good product; however, there are issues such as: it goes through batteries like wild fire. Maybe 3 rounds on a pair of batteries, sometimes only 2 rounds. Rechargeable batteries a very good idea. Another issue is the time it takes to settle on a distance for your shot. The unit takes too much time to indicate the distance, meanwhile the rest of your group is waiting for you to take your shot--not really a time-saver. Also, my friend, standing next to me will have a markedly different distance on his Golflogix than I do--quite puzzling.

I purchased the 2007 Green model and received it April 1st. The main problem is picking up satellites consistently. I took a vacation to the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach, FL. Spent a lot of money on the vacation and had problems picking up a satellite on 2 of the courses. I contacted support which is supposed to be 24/7, but they contact after hours at my work number or during my work hours at my home number even after specifying where to call and when to call. They told me the 2007 model has had these problems and that I may need to get the 2008 model. My problem is still unresolved as it is very difficult to get in touch with customer service either on the phone or online in a timely manner.

I've used the GolfLogix now for 4 rounds at 4 different courses. I'm finding that it is quite accurate in the yardage but even more importantly, it shows how far I have to hit it to get over the water, bunker, hazard, etc. Switching to one more/less club can make a huge difference in your score on one hole. I recommend the extra few dollars for a year's access to download courses to the device.

This item was clearly a restocked item. The packaging was not factory packaging and the cables had been hastily rewound and not tied. Batteries were loose inside a zip-lock bag. Never got to use the item. I was never able to get the included software to recognize the unit. That is probably why it was sent back the first time.

I've had the Golflogix for about a month now. I play mostly public courses that do not have on cart GPS systems. As such the Golflogix GPS has been invaluable for both myself and my playing partner. I find it accurate, easy to use and easy to load. My only complaint is that it eats batteries. Expect to get maybe 3 or 4 rounds of golf from a fresh set of Duracells. I carry an extra pair in my golf bag. Buy it you'll love it.

I am a 10 handicap, and was looking for something to help with my distances on the course. I have tried rangefinders, but had a tough time holding steady enough to get accurate yardages, so decided to look into GPS. I did a lot of research on multiple products, including Garmin's top competitor, and decided to go with Golflogix based on reviews as well as features. I received it just over a week ago, and have played 4 rounds with it, and would highly recommend it. It gives accurate yardages (compared to courses GPS systems and yardages marked on the courses), and gives the yardages quickly. It is simple to get started, and simple to use.
br /
br /My playing partners were asking me for yardages throughout the rounds. Definitely helped with decisions on what to hit off the tee, and with carry yardages. Also gave yardages to doglegs and end of fairways.
br /
br /Went with 2007 model based on price, and figured I could add/subtract for distance on shots.

Very good GPS unit. Worry proof and easy to use. Shock proof and water proof. Yardage is accurate within 3 to 5 yards. Really helped me with scoring, no longer had to wonder if I was hitting the right club. Only one drawback: If your looking for a device that has a picture of the hole and green on screen with yardage to the front and back of fairway bunkers and other hazards this is not the unit for you. You might want to pay the extra cash and and get one of the more expensive units. If your just looking for straight yardage and a dummy proof unit, save the money and buy this one. It is excellent!!!

Very simple to use and large display that works well out doors. Can hold up to 10 courses. Good battery life, can play at least 3 full rounds on set of standard 2 AA. Have not tried yet with rechargeable batteries but should work fine. Only feature I would have liked to have is the ability of measure distance of an actual shot. If unit has this, I have not figured out how to do it. Other then that great device. Friend has a skycaddie unit, I think he is going to trash it and get this one because of the larger display and weather resistance without a special case.

Just finished my first round with my Golflogix (2007). Our first hole was a long par 5 dogleg with a pond at the corner. My friend's SkyCaddie told him how far to the green (550 yards). Big deal. My Golflogix gave me the distance to the turn, to the water and what I needed to get over the water! Amazing. I attached it to the cart and never had to touch it again. It automatically advanced as we played. I had half-a-dozen guys ask me where I got it!

I bought the Golflogix for my husband about two months ago. He absolutely loves it. It is easy to use and very well made. His friend he plays with has the most expensive skycaddie, and he is always having to make adjustments. My husband just turns on the golflogix, scrolls to the hole and that's it. He highly recommends the Golflogix. It's a great buy for the price.

Open and use. I have used the other product and it gives a little more info, but I still like the Garmin better. AA batteries don't wear out in the middle of a round, if the batteries run out just carry two AA batteries and you always have 8 more hours available. All info needed is there, just pops up when you get to your ball.

Convenient, but lacking accuracy.

Used this about 10 times already on a couple of local courses.
br /
br /Pros:
br /-Very convenient, finding out the yardages just takes a quick glance
br /-rugged waterproof casing
br /-good belt clip design, very secure
br /
br /Cons:
br /-Relatively inaccurate. About 2 out of 18 holes will show very inaccurate readings. Eg, it would show 130 yards when clearly, the distance to the hole is only 75.
br /-Drifting readings. Not sure what the cause of this is, but after getting to the ball, the readings would slowly drift down or up, it could take at least 10 seconds for the readings to stabilize
br /-Poor battery life. I only get about 6-10 hours.
br /-Poor screen quality
br /-Lack of hazard information
br /
br /The big killer was the inaccuracy. What use is a distance aid if you don't know when to trust it? Will be returning this for the bushell pinseeker 1500.

This unit was purchased in Dec. 07. After 4 attempts on 4 different MAC computers( with 4 different units) I was able to download a course. Further attempts to download courses were unsuccessful, (on the same computer).
The GPS works very well on the one course I have, but is otherwise useless. I feel Golflogix software needs work.

I did not like the idea that I had to spend $29.99 to add another 19 courses to my GPS. All the the courses should already be downloaded in the GPS. As is the case with other Garmin products. Had I known this before hand, I would have spent the extra dollars for another product.
