Loved it, loved it, loved it ... I got my Neo Monday Night. Downloaded some courses that night and golfed with it Tuesday Night. Absolutely perfect for what I wanted. At $149 and a one time membership fee to download 100 courses (not an annual fee to keep it running) who could want more? Neo told me distances to front/center/back and that's all I needed. Checked the markings on the course and they were right on. It's best used when you're off in the rough, angled away from the fairway distances and need a distance from your "current line" of sight. Distances to the center of the green off any line was dead on. Any green I missed last night was because of my shot, not club selection. I really liked it ... and I liked it because I didn't spend $400+ on color pictures of stuff I don't need or use and I don't have to pay an annual fee to keep turning it on year after year!!! If you're a mid handicapper like me, can execute but just need accurate distances from anywhere (and not from dead center of the fairway), this is the tool. It's great. Next, I need to learn how to add points on the holes with water and sand and all that junk. I'm excited ... can you tell? Loved it!!!

So small, you'll forget it's in your pocket!

The iGolf Neo was my first GPS unit for golf. I've had the laser range finders, and this Neo makes finding the distance much quicker. Though it does not give distance to the pin, it is very accurate to all areas of the green. I've been able to download all courses that I need. The "shot distance" feature makes betting on "long drives" fun because you can measure the exact distance to each ball. Mapping each hole is simple, and you can map 4 different things per hole. And it is literally so small, you'll forget it is in your pocket. And I do keep it in my pocket, because the only negative thing is that the unit does not stay in the plastic belt clip very securely. Oh, and did I mention that it's the lowest priced GPS unit out there?? Well worth the money!!

I have had the iGolf Neo for a week now and couldn't be happier. My golfing buddies drool over it! The device is very fast and very accurate and I love its small size. As reported in various golf forums, the only problem is the belt clip holder: the first time I played with the Neo, the device fell out, and I had to re-trace my steps on the golf course to find it. Whew! However, I now simply stuff it in my pocket, and that works fine. Other electronic devices tend to get more expensive as they get smaller -- not so with the Neo, which is much less expensive than the competition. I was ready to buy a Skycaddie 2.5 until I came across the lower-price and more convenient Neo. A real winner!
br /Note: Here is a follow-up to the above review, written two months later: I continue to be very satisfied with the Neo. I have used it many times at my home course and have also used it at several other courses, both in Canada and the US. Only 1 of these courses was not available for downloading from the website, and this may be due to the fact that this particular course (where the PGA holds a tournament) provides a caddie (i.e., the caddie had a yardage book and gave me my distances for every shot). Customer service from iGolf is pretty good: sometimes the iGolf website has been down; sometimes the live customer support is not available; and, a couple of email inquiries have gone unanswered. But all in all, I am extremely happy with the Neo.

So far, so good!

I have only played one round with this little gadget, but it really seems to help. I played a cheap muni course, so I figured the yardages would be good, but they were spot on.
br / It was good to go right out of the box. Just install the software and it'll help you download courses to it. I paid the yearly ~$35 fee and I can now download all sorts of courses.
br /
br / You can REALLY easily figure out how long your shots went (which is rather depressing in my case). You can also easily mark certain trouble spots on the course easily as well.
br /
br /
br / My buddy has the Skycaddie 2.5 and the big difference between the two seems to be the intelligreen on the Skycaddie. You can figure out yardages not just to one spot on the green but many with the skycaddie, but honestly who needs THAT sort of accuracy. I don't think the $100 upcharge is worth it just for that one additional feature.
br /
br / I would recommend this to anyone who wants a simple GPS device that gives yardages to front, middle, back of greens, and also wants to keep track of how far they hit the ball.

We bought this for my dad's birthday. He plays at least once a week. He's enjoyed it and was very glad it wasn't a Sky Caddie since he's heard alot of bad reviews from his friends that have one. He almost lost it last week because I forgot to tell him not to use the belt clip holder. He's got a cell phone holder he'll use instead.
br /Negative:
br /He had a problem with his computer (or him) trying to do download the courses. The customer service number wasn't listed in the paperwork, but he found it online. Once he got the fix from the cust. serv. rep. he had an easy time downloading what he needed.
br /Positive:
br /He's happy with only paying a yearly $35 fee instead of monthly like the other gadgets.
br /He has bad eyesight for small electronics but with the font size on the screen and simplicity, he has an easy time with it.
br /It's been very accurate with the yardage.
br /I can't wait to get one of my own.

Love my "iGolf" now!!
br /First the bad news. They are very secretive with the fact that the set-up for this is not, and I repeat not able to work with Macintosh computers! So you must go out and find "PC computer people" to download golf courses and get started.
br /Once everything is started, this is a wonderful little GPS for golf. I love its size, ease of overall use, and long battery time.
br /I highly recommend this to everyone, but MAC users beware.

I've used Neo for 3 rounds so far and it is very easy to use. Downloading courses was easy, but I'm a software engineer by trade so it should be easy for me. (I had a Sonocaddie that I couldn't download courses to and need to return it. I was told it was a bad unit, but the Sonocaddie download process is flawed in my somewhat expert opinion.)
br /My buddy has a GolfLogix which is a much better unit, but is also about twice the price.
br /The biggest issue I have is that the distances to the center of the green on the pre-mapped are usually off by 2-7 yards. Not a big deal since you can re-map an hole. (This is not an option of the much more expensive GolfLogix, but the distance on the GolfLogix was usually very accurate. But it stop giving you distance to the green when you are closer than 30 yard. This seemed odd to me.)
br /I'd would recommend this product to anyone who wants an inexpensive golf gps.

Add me to the list or 5 STAR reviewers. This little dude is great. I did not buy a course - simply mapped the one I play regularly. Mapped the course and many additional points in a little over an hour. It's so simple. The distances are accurate and almost immediate - no waiting. The distance feature is fun and allows you to calibrate your club distance. I have played 3 rounds so far and will play the fourth tomorrow. Battery shows 45% remaining. I'll charge it after my 4th round. It has every feature that I need and I can see no need for a more expensive model. I carry it in a cell phone holster on my belt - simply get it out, one glance, and fire away. LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

I just completed my first round with my new igolf neo and I can't begin to explain how satisfied I am with my purchase. for those who are not looking for all the bells and whistles of the new skycaddie, this is the golf gps for you.
br /
br /I typically shoot in the mid-high 70's. I was planning on investing in a new driver but decided to get one of these instead. I think this useful gadget will do much more to help me get over the hump to drop my handicap to the low single digits
br /
br /PROS
br /-small enough to keep in your pocket.
br /-long battery life
br /-I love the shot distance feature
br /-one time $35 fee to download 100 courses (no monthly charges).
br /-accurate!
br /-much better build quality than i expected
br /-plot custom points on the fly
br /-pre mapped hazards already built into most most courses
br /-easy to set up and download...even with vista!
br /
br /CONS:
br /-the belt clip is garbage
br /-the unit can be slippery (try not to drop it...use two hands)
br /-can take up to 10-15 minutes to obtain gps signal (turn it on as soon as you get to the course)
br /
br /I managed to save 3-4 strokes today hitting blind shots relying only on the yardage readings on my neo and the pin placements on my scorecard. Plus now that I dont have to pace out my yardage from the sprinkler heads, play seems to go much smoother and I have one less thing to distract me from making a smooth, solid stroke as I approach my ball.

I looked long and hard at all of the GPS options out there before deciding on the neo. It turns out I made the right choice. The neo does everything I need it do do. Distance to front, center, and back is very easy to read, and makes it very simple to figure a yardage to the pin within 1-2 yards. The shot distance feature is very easy to use as well. I was a little worried about it not advancing automatically to the next hole, but I have just gotten into the habit of clicking the button when walking off the green.
br /
br /The size is fantastic. It easily fits in my front pocket without me even noticing it. If you don't want it in your pocket, I would suggest either buying the leather case, or picking up a cheap cell phone case to keep it on your belt. The clip is junk for anyone with any type of a gut as the unit falls out pretty easily when bumped. This is the only thing I can really speak negatively about.
br /
br /The software is easy to figure out. It may not be extraordinarily sleek, but is highly functional. One of the appeals of this unit was that you pay for 100 courses one time, then they are yours. No annual subscription fee to pay like golflogix or skycaddie. What a rip-off. For the Garmin in my wife's car, we download a map update and it is ours for all time. I see no reason golf courses should be any different. That was probably the biggest deciding factor between the neo and the Garmin for me.
br /
br /Battery life has been fantastic. Can easily get three to four rounds in. The other thing that is great about the battery is how well it holds charge between rounds. I hadn't played in 3 weeks because of an ankle injury and had forgot to plug in the neo the night before. It still had almost a full charge from 3 weeks prior and I was able to get through the round with no problem.
br /
br /All in all, I couldn't be happier with the neo. It speeds up pace of play and helps maintain a much better rhythm to my rounds allowing me to focus on the shot at hand better. I don't see any reason I would need any more information than what it provides.

The bar has been set !!

The basic idea is to get the distance from where u stand to the green so that you can choose the right club. Another variation is to find the distance you have hit with a club. iGolf Neo does both of these things very well. So far the gps units were all in the $400 range and now there is an very affordable product.
br /I took this product for a few rounds now and i have to say it has helped me tremendously..
br /
br /Pros - Fairly easy to use. Quick to get the satellite signals and get going after u turn it on.
br /For a $30 membership you get 100 credits. Not that for each 9 hole a credit applies. So for 18 holes, 2 credits apply.
br /But you don't need to get a membership since you can map the course yourself with a little effort.
br /
br /Cons -
br /The abbreviations for points other than front, center, back would take some time getting used to.
br /if you get a membership and download the same course multiple times, credits are deducted each time you download. you have to call igolf to get your credit back. This is a small effort only.
br /If the gps info is not available, you have a single credit which applies towards requesting a course to be mapped. Not sure why it is that way..
br /The belt clip that comes with the product is useless since it keeps popping out of the clip. You can get a leather case of a cellphone that somehow fits the Neo quite well.

Just the ticket!

I have been researching GPS rangefinders for two years after giving up on line-of-sight laser models (ever tried to focus on a 18" flag from 175 yards?).
br /
br /I was impressed by the number and variety of GPS devices on the market and amazed at the array of features. But I could never bring myself to pull the trigger. Just too expensive for what I (and most people) need. Give me an accurate distance to the center of the green (and perhaps the distance to clear the creek on #6) and I'm a happy camper, and if you can help me figure out the max on my 6-iron, well that's all the better. After watching every sale on amazon and ebay for a looong time, I finally decided that I would just sit this one out and continue to waste time pacing distances from the oddly situated yardage markers on my home course. Then iGolf introduced the Neo in April. Great price point (cheaper than last year's hybrid). I watched the early returns (reviews) and then pounced.
br /
br /I'm delighted. Everything I needed for less than half the cost of the market leader. Setup was a snap, and charting my home course (front, center, back of the greens, as well as a few key custom waypoints) took less than 1.5 hours. I even mapped the flags on the driving range! (Of course, you can download courses for the price of membership at iGolf.com, but as previously noted, I'm cheap.)
br /
br /Another nice touch is the shot distance feature. Simply click "OK/SHOT" from the starting point and again when you've arrived at your ball and you can begin to chart your club distances under actual playing conditions. And that's really the point. The GPS by itself may or may not cut strokes. It's what you do with the information you now have in the palm of your hand that's important. In two rounds using the Neo, I only "mis-clubbed" once. I may have "mis-hit" a few times, but I did have a new confidence in my club selection. As a consequence, I was able to swing comfortably without having to "jump all over" a shot because I thought the distance was a reach. I fully expect this little device to help me improve the way I think about the game. I know that I will no longer be distracted by the search for a yardage marker.

Recently purchased the Neo, and I have to tell you it is really a handy device. As I am not the best golfer in the world, I sometimes find myself off the fairway away from any yardage marker. The Neo gives very accurate distances to the green and other hazards so you can select the proper club quite quickly. Very simple and straight forward user interface...great little device worth every penny!

br /This thing is incredible. It was easy to set-up easy to download courses. It also had all of the courses that I regularly play available for download. Two of my golf buddies are buying these also.
br /It is fast, accurate, lots of fun to use.

The iGolf neo does exactly what it was designed to do - give yardage. It doesn't keep your score, or calculate your handicap, or tie your shoes. It is a very simple, easy to use GPS unit. It fits in your pocket. The shot distance calculator is a nice addition. iGolf seems to have a lot of courses in their system and you can request additional ones (although I have no idea how long it will take them to update). The battery life is long. I have played 45 holes so far and it still says 55% left. The backlight is very bright during the twilight hours. The custom points that are already programmed in the courses are great. So, if you are looking for a simple golf GPS unit then I highly recommend this one. If you are looking for a unit that cleans your clubs, look elsewhere.

L O V E I T!!!!! Received my neo on Wednesday and had a slight glitch
br /with my computer while trying to download a course. I e-mailed iGolf and
br /they responded by asking me to phone them when I was at my computer and in less than 10 minutes I was set to go.
br /I used the neo today for the first time and the distances were right on the money. It does not have all the bells and whistles as other models
br /which cost a lot more but for $150 it gives you the distances to front, center, and back as well as last shot distance and thats all you really need anyway. I am very pleased with this product and recommend it to all.

This little gadget works perfectly. A one year membership gets you 100 course downloads....and they never expire. If you find that your favorite golf course isn't mapped, you can do it yourself or request that Igolf does it for you (one per year). I put in my request for a small local course on Monday, and it was done by Wednesday! Their course library is very thorough. Of the 45 courses I looked up, only one had not been mapped.
br /
br /DO NOT USE THE BELT CRADLE! There's a good chance you'll loose the unit if you do. Just put it in your pocket. It's so small and light that it's not a problem.

I purchased my iGolf neo a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with it. The size is small enough to fit in your pocket and not know it is there. I recommend NOT using the belt clip because the device can easily fall out of the holder. The accuracy is the same as the larger iGolf units and the battery life is much better. I played over 54 holes on a single charge. This device is not as fancy as some units but you don't have to pay an annual subscription either. You pay once and download your 100 courses and once you have them, they are yours forever. The unit can store 10 courses in it's internal memory. The rest I keep on a memory stick and upload new courses to the device when I need them. You can map your own courses if you like or add hazards to the hole. I highly recommend this unit and think it is a great buy for less than $150.

I purchased the "Neo" last week and right out of the box I charged it and went straight to my golf course and mapped the first nine holes. Later that afternoon I played the nine holes with a foursome and boy did I have the advantage. I didn't let them know I had the "neo" and I hit every green in regulation. I have a 20 handicap, because my putting is the weakest part of my game. (maybe they will have a gps for my putting game!
br /
br /Well back to the game...I hit fade off the tee which put me in bounds in the opposite fair way, my neo said a 118 yds to the center of the green, that I could not see low bushes. I knew the exact club to pull and bam I hit it just right, these guys were amazed at my pin point accracy. The "Neo after 2 hrs and 15 min. still showed a full charge. I was pulling clubs with confidence and hitting away. I knew what I needed to carry water and when to lag up! WOW... Sky Caddie will now have to drop their price or go out of business, or try to buy out itechnology which I don't think so. I was waiting for a price drop on sky caddie but then I found "neo" and waited no more! The Neo fits comfortably in my cargo pant pocket on in my shorts. They're right the clip that it comes with is very loose and it will pop out. I will not be using it!!!
br /
br /I have not down loaded the courses yet, so I will update when I get that up and running.
br /I'm very happy so far with my purchase and I love the igolf website for posting my score and getting real time handicap rating.
br /
br /Pros: Light weight, accurate, great battery life, easy to operate, small, but very readable,
br /Cons: None so far! ***Will update after I sync my first course and play it! I mapped my own course and it gave me the advantage. I think the "Neo" was made just for me!!!!

This is truly the best buy in Golf GPS devices. My golf buddy has the more expensive device (Skycaddy) and we play together. The Neo compares on mosty all accounts and the downloading of courses is much less expensive. Only improvement I would want to see, is a way to hang the Neo on your golf bag. by the way I used next day UPS and it worked like a charm.

I got this as birthday gift for my husband fully expecting he may choose to trade up to one of the more expensive models, but after reading the reviews and doing my research, I felt this was a great choice for the money. He then did more research after receiving his gift and decided to try it out. The result - it's a winner. He loves the small size and it does everything he wanted it to do. The only thing its missing is the cool graphics some models have, but he said that's really not important - especially because the small sizing makes it so convenient.

The price is what initially drew me to the igolf neo.. If all you need is yardage to the greens(front/back/center), then this is the GPS for you..Functions exactly as advertised and is very easy to use.. I expierenced one problem transferring the downloaded courses to the NEO, however, customer support was very quick to respond and the problem was quickly resolved.. I would definitely recommend this product to everyone looking to get into the GPS era at a comfortable price . Also I checked the yardage against the cart gps systems of two different courses and it was absolutely correct ... Ken - Norfolk, Va.

fast shipping excellent seller. igolf has very good support. My husband wanted something small to keep in his shirt pocket. This has all that he needs for information. Pin placements, major course hazzards(sand traps), and is easy to program 4 additional custom points. His other option was a skycaddie, but this has what he needs at a good price.

I wanted a GPS device so I could stop pacing off yardages on the course and have an enjoyable game and make correct club selections. I compared quite a few and wanted a entry level GPS, certainly Igolf Neo fits the bill.
br /
br /Pros:
br /1. Great entry-level price.
br /2. You don't know it's in your pocket.
br /3. Fast downloads to sync courses to handheld device.
br /4. Lowers your handicap by making accurate club selections on GPS distances.
br /5. Igolf website user friendly.
br /6. 20 channels
br /
br /Cons:
br /1. Only holds 8 courses on the Neo.
br /2. Lots of ghost readings, 9999 to front of green.
br /3. Discrepancies in distances to front, back, middle of greens.
br /4. Buttons hard to push.
br /5. Annual membership fees.
br /
br / Overall, I recommend the Neo to anyone wanting an entry-level golf dedicated GPS device. Price is great, information is easy to read and user friendly. I will look to upgrade to either Golf Buddy or Golf Guru. I don't want to pay annual memberships and simply want more golf game management information.

Great - easy to use - takes out the guess work for yardage. no longer have rhe need to serach for yardage markers. Have yet to use all the other features. Down loading courses is a snap as it is to load the iGolf neo. Battey life good for 4 18 hole rounds.

I'm delighted others have found this product useful. Unfortunately, after hours of following the company's directions on how to sync a course to the device with nothing to show for it but total frustration, I couldn't give a more negative review. Technical support only responds by automatically sending portions of the manual you already have. I don't know for sure, but I expect it would be better to spend more money and get a product that works. I went for the product because it was the least expensive. I guess you get what you pay for.

I got a I golf Neo gps rangefinder for fathers day. I find it easy to use and to be very accurate. It is easy to download courses for the internet and to transfer to the unit. Visibility on course very good. For the price I wouldn't have anything else.

The unit arrived on schedule. I joined iGolf (about $35)as required to download my local golf course. Downloading instructions were clear and easy to use. Only problem was the course gps data bore absolutely no resemblance to my course. Readings were hundreds of yards off and in no discernable trend. I emailed iGolf with problem description. No reply. I called iGolf and got a technician who requested a scorecard for my course. I sent it to him. A week passed. After more emails I received notice that my "new" gps data was now online. I downloaded. Nearly perfect. It was dead-on on 7 holes and up to 30 yards off on others. Absolutely useless.

br /I requested a refund of iGolf membership from them. No answer. I told Amazon that I wanted to return the unit. Excellent response.

br /I replaced the iGolf gps with a Bushnell V2 range finder couldn't be happier. It is so helpful on oddly shaped greens where front/center/back information is meaningless.

I bought the iGolf Neo for my husband for his birthday because the price was right and he wanted a golf GPS and he just loves it. He says it has helped his game tremendously in just the first week he has had it. He highly recommends it. I guess I picked the right one because he's very happy with it.

I cannot comment on the actual GPS, but I did discover that IGOLF did not have the GPS data for many of the smaller courses I play. My advice is to review the listing of courses in your area at the IGOLF website before making this purchase.
