Holux GR 231 bluetooth GPS is a light weight bluetooth enabled GPS receiver with Xtrac firmwire and is based on the popular Sirf II L/P chipset, which gives it extremely high sensitivity and power conservation. This means it is very unlikely that you will lost GPS signals in urban navigation. The rechargeable battery easily lasts for more than 10 hrs for single charge. It is compatible with all bluetooth device. It provides the standard NMEA output and can work with all map software that are NMEA compliant. This receiver works with both Palm OS and Microsoft CE.

Choosing a bluetooth GPS is kind of a tough decision, you aren't quite sure if everything is going to be compatible or not and you definitely don't want to have to buy more than one because one didn't work. Well fear not! This unit works great with my new Palm T|X and Tom Tom 5 software, software sold separately of course. It is very tiny yet it gets a 9 satellite lock from inside my center console! With this and your Palm or Pocket PC you never have to worry about getting lost.

br /The only trouble I had involved getting it to pair up with the Palm but that may have been the Tom Tom software acting up. Just keep at it and it will work, took me a few minutes and I had to pair the devices a couple times and keep restarting the software.

I use this with my iPaq 1945 PDA along with iGuidance software for a navi system in my car.

br /The setup is very simple, just follow the booklet word for word. The battery life is great, it really does last about 8 to 9 hours w/o charge. The signal takes about 10-15 seconds to acquire, after that you can stash this little thing pretty much anywhere in the console of your car. It is very precise in its coordinates. I used it for about 15 trips now, and it hasn't dropped a signal on me yet.

I've an i-mate JAM and bought this Holux to use it with it.
br /This product is excellent. Setting up the bluetooh connection was straight forward, both on the imate and on an ipaq. Satellite reception from cold start is very quick, usually within less than one minute. I've tried several GPS programs and all of them work fine with this receiver.

I've had this for probably a couple of years now. I don't use it all the time, but when I do, it always works well. This is a great product for adding GPS capability to your laptop or PDA or phone that has blue tooth. I used it with a Compaq IPAQ and my laptop and mapopolis. It works, as long as you move about five feet, so it can pickup your direction.
